Part of a wet evergreen forest, this protected area is the most diverse in Ghana with over 675 vascular plant species. The area is also an important birding area and hosts a great many mammal species. Nearby is Kakum National Park, a tropical rain forest that is home to hundreds of bird species, reptiles, monkeys, and shy forest creatures such as the bongo and Ghana forest elephants.
