Travel in Time

For those looking for an extraordinary visit and back in time while you take a ride at an elevator from the glorious era of the 60's with glamour and a lot of furniture of that time, and also a modern bathroom and other good things this is the place to stay. The view to the ocean is even better, get this room.

Bien

We've stayed there 10 days, Nice hotel, you've got everything you need, close to the center, there is always some friendly people to help you for anything, a car park in front of the hotel, a good restaurant, breakfast is alright and a train station just in front.

I thought it was great

I just have stayed at a different hotel than everyone else writing reviews. I took the Real bus from GIG to SDU last night for me flight this morning. It took almost two hours by the way because of the traffic. Anyway- I walked across the pedestrian bridge and it was about 6:45 and there were still a lot of people and cars out. I didn't feel unsafe at all. I read the reviews before coming here and was nervous as to what I would find and was surprised how nice the lobby looks. Also, there are five banks within a two minute walk around here. There is also a fast food joint right behind the building. Here are my good and bad- Good- big rooms, the price, hot shower, my room had a new tv, the location, really good big breakfast. Friendly staff Bad- the elevator- it's not as bad as I read but you still can't use it yourself so I felt like a nuisance needing the guy to come get me so I just took the stairs the rest of the time. Six flights ain't so bad. The door that connects between your room and the other room has an opening at the bottom and the people next to me were smoking and the smell woke me up so I had to put a towel down. Wifi only in the lobby- but at least it has a strong signal. I would definitely stay here again, even if I don't have a flight out the next morning. Can't beat the price, and it wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. It was fine.

Ridiculous

This hotel should be shut down. In the 1940s. Rooms are old and decadent, the elevators have manual doors. Furniture composed of old museum pieces. Old tube tv. Wrinkled stained carpets. No restaurants around. Shady location.

Old Hotel

Honestly this hotel could've been nice when it was first built but now it's not. Now I don't think they know how to do math since we booked it for 3 people and they only gave us one queen bed and once we brought the problem up they said we'll have to fit in one bed so we had to pay extra money for another single bed. We first got there and we already had reservations and but still had to wait 3 hours for our room. Now the AC doesn't work well, the bed wasn't too bad and the bathroom was okay, now the TV was terrible, kept blinking and making an weird noise and only 3 channels worked, all in Portuguese and 2 of them were religious channels. Only one of the elevator worked and it had to be worked by some guy that worked there so sometimes I'll have to wait 10 minutes for the elevator and that's if they come, had to take the stairs some times up and down. You have to pay for the wifi upstairs but you do get free wifi at the lobby. We were stuck there because of rain so we figured we'll order something from the menu and I got a cheese pizza for 35 reais and it was pretty overpriced for the size of the pizza because it was really small only enough for 1, maybe enough for one, also didn't taste great. If you're coming to rio to enjoy the beaches don't get this hotel because you'll probably be stuck having to take a taxi and you'll spend as much money if you were to get a hotel closer to the beach.
