Hairdryer Blew Up In My Face

Unfortunately I was really disappointed in the level of service I received at a recent stay. I usually can stay here for business with little issue. the rooms are fine and the customer service is fine. Nothing to write home about but serves its purpose. This time however; my experience was vastly different. I had issues with my room and the staff did not respond in a timely manner or in a manner which was appropriate given the potential for a more serious situation. The equipment in the room malfunctioned and staff came after I had left for the evening to fix it. Absolutely no follow up and no inquiry to make sure I was okay. I was really disappointed as I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past.

centrally located

This motel is centrally located in downtown Toronto.......walking distance to many restaurants and attractions, including the Christmas Market in the Distillery District, which is on mow. Rooms are fairly priced for this located, but a bit dated. We heard a rumour that the entire complex will be turned into condominiums soon

Very low standard hotel - poor location

Busy, big city hotel, banged up (needs considerable TLC), upgraded room and the walls were dinged up, carpets dirty, bathroom had hairs on the floor. As a business traveller that visits 20+ hotels per year in Canada and the US this hotel is the worst I have stayed in. Beware.

Good value

We stayed 2 nights at Chelsea hotel. The hotel is in the centre of the city, just one block from Eaton Centre ( large shopping mall). Ideal to visit the city. The hotel is huge, but good organised. Staff is very friendly and helpfull. Rooms are clean, good bed. Breakfast is top. A lot of choice.

Time for an update

First - every employee of this hotel we encountered was very pleasant and the service we received was excellent. However - I would probably not stay in this room again unless I was told that this hotel had undergone major renovations. The rooms are worn out and in need of a major overhaul. DO NOT stay in room 1882. It reeks of what can only be described as old, stale cigarette smoke. We checked into the room, it smelled. I walked into the bathroom and there was mildew in the shower grout and hairs on the toilet seat. I called the front desk and we were promptly assigned a new room, with apologies for the inconvenience. The entire place has an air of being past its prime. Dings and dents in the walls, worn out carpets in hallways and rooms, ancient heating/air conditioning thermostats in the rooms that didn't really seem to work. Wifi - TERRIBLE. I'm quite sure the AOL Dial Up I had in the late 90's was faster. Couldn't get a web page to load in minutes. While it's nice that it's free - would be nice if it worked. Parking - the parking garage has very low clearance. My Jeep Grand Cherokee barely fit and there were areas that I could not stand up in (I'm 5'10"). The T Bar was ok, Indian food didn't live up to the hype. Last - watch your bill. There was a marketing fee on our bill, a nominal charge. When we asked about it, we were told it was "voluntary," but all hotels in the Toronto area add it to the bill and you have to request to have it removed.
