The Good, The Bad, The Hilarious at "De Edge"

The Good o Unexpectedly lovely as was unsure what to expect due to the rather “interesting” name of “De Edge” but was very pleasantly surprised o Polite front desk service o Food: ordered room service of fried rice with plantain and beef, which was pretty good, while the pool-side order of a huge catfish and plantain combo was amazing! The latter is a must-order! o Decent lobby, waiting, bar and dining areas o Room was comfortable, the colours in the room are actually much nicer than they appear on the site o Felt pretty safe on the grounds; I don’t recall the hotel security around but felt it to be quite private and un-exposed o Bathroom was clean and shower was decent o Taxis are on standby to take one anywhere which was most convenient The Bad o Room service orders are paid upon order with cash or POS, which appeared a strange concept!?! It didn’t help that the food service delivery man requested cash until I dug a little deeper and discovered I could actually pay via POS o While the pool-side service was pretty great on Friday, the service on Saturday evening was very slow (i.e. the catfish took 30mins to prepare on Fri but almost 2 hours on Sat) o We sneezed once the A/C came on; therefore while everywhere else appeared spotless, that detail was obviously neglected o They ran out of plantain at breakfast pretty quickly and were slow to refill The Hilarious o One was greeted by the most interesting signs upon entry from "no firearms allowed in the building" to "do not swim if one has consumed alcohol" by the poolside o Everything was branded "De Edge"...everything

Good value! Visit Now While Its New and still Relatively Clean

Yes, I would visit again and again and recommend it to my good friends without the fear of losing them. To Mgt: * Obviously, management opted to trawl the market instead of catering to a niche. To accomplish this, Rooms & B-rooms are jam packed with amenities to the point of clutter. You will forget items no doubt: Hair dryer, Coffee tray, Vanity trays, Desktop, Analogue phone jacks!, Multiple sockets, Multiple bottles of H2o etc Still not a 5 star or Bouquet because it lacks ambience and the finishing is so-so. Address that and you are well on your way. * Mattresses are orthopaedic- full marks for my bad back. * Shower doors weren't flush but the water pressure was a delight. On this alone, 10 Stars awarded! But, (1. What's with the loo roll holder being across from the user, btw? 2. Oh yes, and the waste for the sink is a pop-up which means you stick your hand in hot or dirty water to empty it... ewww! 3. Alert! The loo brush holder location WILL enforce a high risk contamination zone. It must be relocated immediately) * Hotel rate (discount negotiated by group) was excellent. Tv channels adequate. Swimming pool is clean and clear. Parking was fine but no security tags? Nigerian food was good (Eba and Egusi). * Staff need Training! Training! Training! A building does not a hotel make! Fair poolside waitress preference was to reel off the menu offhead. She refused to go get the menu for an hour, insisting that it was incomplete and her memory was better. * Go with a sanitiser if like me you can't abide the smell of fish. Its everywhere! The room service trays, lift buttons, staff pens etc. This hotel is new with staff clearly outnumbering guests and tasks. They will have very serious issues with thorough sanitation, ingrained dirt and plumbing in the next 12 months if unchecked. Sad. * Lift internal operation panel on the 4th floor is unsecured and accessible to all! Lol. Safety and Security risk * Bed' soft furnishing cushions (brown), stink of bodily fluids. * You could be in a space station! The lighting is that harsh and bright: 8 white spotlights, 2 bed lamps which can't be individually controlled, 2 table lamps and 1 floor, 3 overhead lamps... 16 bulbs in 1 tiny room! All full 60 watts and most are white fluorescent. Our eyes hurt even without the tv. No welcoming ambience * Loads of bottled water. Well done. * Full marks for room smoke detector but I didn't see the sprinkler. All considered, it was money well spent and I'd visit again. Kudos to the investors vision.

Beautiful Short Stay

I had a great experience albeit short stay. Hotel is well equipped & well maintained; more like a boutique hotel. Staff are polite. Breakfast is the regular meal. Housekeeping is on top of their job. My room was always well cleaned.

Felt like home

My friends and I were not sure what to expect even though the pictures looked nice. First hand, I can confirm it is a really nice hotel. Food is good, service is great, ambience is awesome. The rooms are so cosy you forget you are in Nigeria. The selection of available tv channels may be one of the few down sides other being the shower which flows funny, but all the other pros overshadow these.
