Service good, facilities poor

Staff were very nice and protective. Location good, but be aware after 19:00. Facilities of the property need upgrade. Breakfast very nice at a nearby location. Variety of breakfast plentiful. Good transfer from/to airport

bathrooms needs upgrade

bathrooms need to be upgraded. Double beds, it was no good to sleep on two single beds. The staff of the hotel was good, I received good service from them. Catering, breakfast was good, for both veg and meat eaters.

Good Value in the heart of the City Bowl

We stayed here from Christmas Eve until 8th January in a room on the 9th floor with a nice view of Table Mountain. We knew what to expect when arriving at this hotel (from the previous Trip Advisor Reviews) so it didn't exceed our expectations nor did it disappoint. There's no frills but as a base, it was spot on. We literally just used it to sleep. Although there is no restaurant, breakfast is served right next door and was perfect for our needs. Free parking was available which was handy when we hired a motorbike for a couple days and the wifi was free as well (wifi is fine for emails and browsing the Internet but don't expect to be able to stream videos or similar). Outside and across the road, there is a small stall that sells drinks, snacks etc which was handy. It was open until 11pm. Just be aware that when you walk around the centre after dark, you're more likely to have the homeless pester you for food or money. We never felt threatened at any time, it just took a very stern "go away" to get rid of their attention. We could walk to the V&A in around 20mins and the city hop on/hop off bus in Long street was just a 10min walk. I'd recommend you download Uber instead of using street taxis - much cheaper, no money exchanging hands, felt safe. The only reason I haven't rated the hotel 5/5 is because the room was looking a bit tired & in need of some tlc.

A week in Capetown

A group of five of us including my wife and myself stayed for a week in Hotel on St Georges. The price was very reasonable and it is clearly a budget hotel. Our first room was at the back of the hotel with a poor outlook and had been used by a smoker - and we were not asked on check in whether we could like a no smoking room - and we both suffer from mild respiratory problems - but the second room overlooked Table Mountain and was spacious and comfortable. There is no bar or restaurant in the Hotel - but it is surrounded by restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. Staff were pleasant and helpful - except we found the Deputy General Manager who was regularly present in reception to be reluctant to engage or address guests! The Hotel is somewhat tired and needs investment - but that is reflected in the price. We enjoyed our week but spent most of the time exploring Capetown and the Hotel is fine provided you know that it is a Budget Hotel.

Centrally located hotel

Spent four nights here with my family during our holiday in South Africa. Rooms were a little "tired" but clean. Very nice, friendly and helpful staff who gave us great advise on what to do and see in Cape Town. Will probably try to stay a little bit closer to V&A next time if I go for a holiday, but for business it's a great location I think.
