Good location and great staff

I've stayed at this hotel every year for the past 4 years. The hotel staff is amazing and very accommodating! The rooms are spacious and look great, room service is always good, and the lobby bar and Starbucks are great places to stop for a drink!

Needs to be updated

First, check in was a disaster. We were not able to understand the clerk and had a difficult time conveying our needs to her for a 2 bed room. We thought that she finally got it and went up to our room. No...one king size bed. Called the front desk, again we had someone else that also was difficult to converse in English with. Finally, we were transferred to another room. The second room had 2 beds, great; but smelled of strong, strong bleach and had stains on the carpet and dust on the dressers. Called the front desk again. This time they sent someone up; finally an English speaking young man. He took one whiff and got us into our 3rd room. This one smelled better but still some stains but we stayed. We were at this hotel for a conference. The conference rooms were wonderful and most meals were fine. The hotel provided a breakfast buffet but many of the hot dishes were cold. Eggs, potatoes, coffee and sausage are terrible when served luke warm. I have stayed in Boston at another InterContinental hotel and it was fabulous. This one needs some work.

Excellent Conference Hotel

I attended a convention and stayed at the hotel for four days. The conference space worked very well, and the room was excellent. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful with restaurant suggestions and things to do in Dallas.

Swanky, updated hotel in the heart of Dallas

I'm pretty sure the hotel has been updated in the last 5 years or less. The room was very nice, excellent bathroom and shower. Everything was very clean. Staff was all very nice and helpful. This is the second wedding I've attended here but first time staying overnight. Good value too.

Did NOT Have a Good Experience

I stayed at the InterContinental Dallas for a conference, and I did NOT have a very good experience. Pros: - I was initially given an accessible room. When I requested a change to a non-accessible room, the staff was very accommodating and quickly honored my request. - The provided toiletries are quite nice. - A recycling bin was available in my room. Cons: - Had to evacuate around 9 pm the second night of my stay. While the hotel cannot possibly control emergencies, they can control how they communicate during emergencies and how they care for guests under those circumstances. My emergency exit stairwell opened out into the pool area where there appeared to be no further exits to the street due to a tall privacy fence. No one from the hotel was in that location to tell guests what was going on, to calm any fears, or to communicate when it was safe to return to our rooms. After waiting for some time, another guest got a call from a co-worker in another part of the hotel who said it was okay for us to go back inside. Hotel staff was still no where to be seen, but I did chat with a fire fighter who stated that it was okay to return to my room. At no point during the evacuation did I see a member of the hotel staff, and there was no follow up communication of any time. - Around 11pm that night, my door started making a horrible grinding sound. I called the front desk to report that it sounded like it was coming from the key card device. At 11:30pm, someone from the maintenance crew messed with it for a while and left. The grinding noise continued through the night and I had to call back down to the front desk at 1:30am and again at 3:30am. By the third attempt to address the issue, in the middle of the night, I asked the maintenance crew to simply disable my door lock and opted to simply bolt myself inside so I could try to get a few hours of sleep. At no point did anyone from the hotel apologize for the inconvenience, offer a discount for the horrible experience and restless night with limited sleep, or take any other steps to truly address the situation. - There was no luggage rack in my room. - There was quite a bit of rust on the bathroom fixtures, and the shower didn't drain well.
