Just OK ..not coming back

It's 18.00 a night to park. 9.00 for a small omelette that looked microwaved. AC/heater unit loud and smelled musty. Elevators were broken. So much noise in the mornings..walls are thin. Could hear voices and music from other room through vent in the shower. Car was broken into across street and took my purse.

Trendy with a few flaws

I stayed a long weekend at the aloft Houston Galleria. A strip mall across the street includes a sub shop with excellent sandwiches and an upscale restaurant, with additional eating options within 10 minutes walk, including at the Galleria. Room was comfortable with a nice view of the area and very comfortable bed. Bus stop in front of the hotel--Houston's public transport system is easy to use and inexpensive. An otherwise pleasant experience was marred by a noisy room heater/air conditioner (it was cold for Houston while I was there) that woke me up, and an overpriced breakfast in the lobby. Buy breakfast foods at the CVS across the street; even at their inflated prices it's still a better deal.

Seems to be falling apart

I hate to write negative reviews, but I have submitted a lot of feedback to the hotel itself with no response. Maybe I have bad luck, but I go to Houston a lot for work, and so far, the hotels have been very disappointing. As member of the excellent SPG program, I was eager to try this aloft hotel--I had a good experience with the Brooklyn location, and while I know this is not a particularly fancy chain, I was still happy there was a reasonable SPG option in this city. Long story short, I have stayed here many, many nights over the past year, and my last visit to this one is my last. Main problem? It's impossible to sleep well. The AC units are those awful LOUD window units—they sound like jet engines! And while you can turn them off -- not advisable in the summer -- there is STILL a venting fan in the shower area. If you are a heavy sleeper, maybe you will be okay, but the rattling bugs me like crazy...and you can't turn it off. The rooms are okay--though the plastic-wrapped plastic cups and cheap toilet paper are annoying--but the pillows are hard. If you like having your next at an 88°angle, cool, otherwise...be warned. My last visit had a room that had a big wet stain on the floor that I didn't notice until I took my shoes off, then I had wet feet...then I had itchy feet. Gross. No idea. Thankfully the staff was able to get me a new room...but why was it available in the first place. The staff is friendly, the hipster bar is usually pretty empty (maybe everyone's at The West End across the street--a fun bar and restaurant and worth checking out) and the food options are all wrapped in plastic. The gym is small the pool is SUPER tiny and kind of odd... I don't know. I think the staff means well, I just think their hands are tied. The rooms need to be completely overhauled--I just found it impossible to sleep comfortable in them. Good luck!

Good location and rates, ok hotel

This hotel is fairly well located in the galleria area, a short walk down the street to the mall. It offers no restaurant a small gym and pool but a nice bar area. The rates are quite reasonable for the area and the rooms are functional but small. As an example, you would only have enough closet space (if that's what they call it) for one person for a few days. The shower stall also leaked out onto the floor which sounds like a long standing problem. The rooms aren overly sound proofed and even on the top floor the road noise was high. See if you can get a room away from Westheimer.

Great location. Average room

I booked a king size room for New Year's eve. I would say the price it's very reasonable considering it's NYE. The check-in process was easy; however, the whole lobby/check-in/elevator area wasn't very attractive. The size of our room was good, but didn't have a view. The sleeping and bathroom areas were separated. The room comes with a TV, desk, iron, coffee maker, hair dryer and shower (no bath). The insulation was good as we never heard our neighbor. Our room came with free parking. Since it was NYE, the hotel had an event at the bar area. It was great to have live music and see people dressed up. However, all the seating were reserved for the party, and as a hotel guest and no room to sit and hang out at the bar? It was a bit disappointing. The price for the breakfast is a bit outrageous. We've decided to walk to Galleria for food. The walk is about 10-15 minutes and it's very convenient. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. I would say for the price we paid, we will probably visit this hotel again.
